The Maskmen has now arrived in the Philippines

Since their stint in the America's Best Dance Crew, I have been a fan of the Jabbawockeez. They are one of the sickest crews ever! The idea of wearing masks during a performance is really creative and since almost half of them are Filipinos, it made me love them more! =)

So when I learned that they'll be in the Philippines again to perform in Cebu and Taguig, I'm really excited. I wasn't able to watch their live performance during their first visit here (When they performed in Ayala Malls) so I hope this time, I can finally see those moves live!

On February 6, 2010, they'll perform together with Boyce Avenue and latest American Idol winner Kris Allen at the Mickinley Hill, Fort Bonifacio. This is going to be exciting.

I've been following them at Twitter, so when Kid Rainen posted that they're already on their way to Manila, I'm so excited! I love Kid Rainen! He's one of the cutest bboys ever! Haha!

And now they're here!

But unfortunately, I have an event on February 6 at Batangas and I won't be able to watch them again. Maybe I'll just wait til someone uploads their performance on youtube and be contented on watching them from my computer screen. Haaaay... =(

It won't be a Potter movie if it doesn't have a 3D version

Warner Bros. has announced that the last two Harry Potter movies will have its 3D version.

Get your 3D glasses ready people!

In other news, Orlando Bloom said that he won't be back in Pirates 4. Now this is kinda sad. But no worries, Johnny Depp will still be there! Hotness is still there! =)

 Hoooray for Tim Burton!

It was announced that fantasy movie extraordinaire, Tim Burton, will serve as jury prexy in the Cannes Film Festival on May 12-23, 2010. Well deserved.

Avatar star to star in Dracula Year Zero?

It seems that vampires are really in season!

Sam Worthington (Avatar) is in talks to star in Universal Picture's Dracula Year Zero. I'm still not sure about the plot but according to, "the story explores the origin of Dracula, weaving vampire mythology with the true history of Prince Vlad the Impaler and depicting Dracula as a flawed hero in a tragic love story set in a dark age of magic and war."

I'd love to meet my Angel, but I hope he doesn't looked like that ice cream guy in Legion

Vampires took a break and zombies, well let's just say they're not in season yet...

Then enters Legion, a movie with an apocalyptic plot. God has lost faith in mankind, so he sent his angels to exterminate them. One archangel, Michael (Paul Bettany) has defied God and he went down to earth to protect a baby who is believed to be mankind's savior. It was not explained how can this child save man but if Archangel says so, then they should believe him. (That's faith people.. Haha!)

In Legion, the angels were depicted differently from mine. My version of an angel is a creature that possesses an ethereal beauty, someone like Legolas minus the pointed ears, and they should be gentle, loving creatures. But in Legion, the angels looked like gladiators with wings and they get dirty and sweaty. When they possess a human, they turned into creepy persons with limbs that stretch, has shark-like teeth, zombie-like features and they want to kill people.

Michael thought that he should only focus on the survival of the Paradise Falls diner people, especially the pregnant waitress, but it turned out that this is also God's test for him. To see how good he was as an angel.

In the end, it all took a little ounce of faith, a loadful of guns and martial arts expertise of Angel Michael to be saved.

Now my thoughts ---

  • The movie is a little dragging. I mean the plot is good, there are scenes that got my interest, but 1/2 of the movie, I was just looking at the screen thinking, "And then? And then? And then?... Next scene please!"

  • I gotta say... The ice cream man is the highlight of this movie! He should be given more screening time! I think it'll give the movie more ooompf if he stayed there for a couple more minutes and gave Angel Michael a run for his life.
  •  The effects were great. This is kinda expected since its director, Scott Stewart, is a visual effects specialist and was behind movies like Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Sin City and Pirates of the Carribbean.
  • If I'm a nosy kid, I would have a lot of ridiculous why's in this movie. Why did the possessed people attacked only during nighttime? Were they afraid of the sun? Why did Angel Gabriel have bullet proof wings that can also slice men in half and yet, Angel Michael who's now human, can give him a head shaking uppercuts and jabs? (HAHA!)

All in all, it's an okay action movie. If you are into apocalyptic plots and angels with uzis, rifles, pistols, M16s and rocket launchers, then this movie is for you.

Fallen angels are sexy.

Just finished reading Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick.

made me curious, so I looked for a copy and read it.

What's the deal with Biology class?
First it was Edward and Bella, and now, Patch and Nora? =)
Is Biology = sexy guys? I should have paid more attention to Biology during my highschool days...

But what can I say from now, Patch is one sexy, bad angel.. You'll hate him, but you'll also love him.

More about my thoughts on this book next time.

Pirates 4 a go, Sleeping Beauty a-la Burton?

Can't wait to see Jack Sparrow again!

Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides has finally gone into pre-production phase. With a release date sometime in 2011, the fourth pirate movie will be shot in Hawaii.

On the other hand, Jack Sparrow's director friend, Tim Burton (the director of the upcoming movie Alice in Wonderland), was said to be mulling on making an adaptation of Disney's Sleeping Beauty. But on his adaptation, the story will center around Maleficent character and not the Princess. Can't wait for this to be confirmed.

If this will happen, will Helena Bonham-Carter be casted as Maleficent?

Balangay update: Two balangays embark on historic voyage beyond Philippine seas

The year 2010 will prove to be a milestone for the country’s maritime tradition as a second Butuan balangay is set to accompany the Diwata ng Lahi in completing the voyage’s Mindanao leg. Then the two balangays will set sail around Southeast Asia, visiting countries with large Filipino communities such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan.

Led by the Kaya ng Pinoy Foundation (KPF) and the First Philippine Mount Everest Expedition, the Voyage of the Balangay traces traditional maritime routes during the pre-colonial period. The Butuan balangay is an ancient sea vessel used for transportation, trading, and even warfare.

Awesome vessel

Described as awesome by Voyage of the Balangay leader and KPF Art Valdez, the second Butuan boat is a culmination of lessons learned from the three-month expedition that conquered seven storms. Longer by 15 feet (four meters) than the Diwata, the new Butuan boat is 80 feet (24 meters) in length and is strengthened by closer rib distancing.

Premium tropical hardwoods like the dungon, tanguile, bagtikan, molave, and yakal were used to construct the second replica. Historically, these were the timber of choice for balangays as well as for Spanish galleons. In fact, ancient balangay relics revealed that dungon and molave were among its original building materials.

En route to Asia

Now docked on its sixth pit stop, the Butuan port, the newly-repaired Diwata and the second balangay will be on water by the end of January. The second Butuan boat will formally depart by the first week of February, joining Diwata in the remaining ports of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur, Cotabato City, Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato, General Santos City, Davao del Sur, Davao City, Sarangani Island, and Tawi-Tawi. The last stop will be at Sibuto, Tawi-tawi.

“After traversing Philippine waters, we have set our horizon to travelling around Southeast Asia, especially in countries where we can visit a lot of Filipinos,” said Valdez.

Second balangay set to sail Asia. High hopes and spirits mark the launch of the Butuan boat, which will accompany Diwata ng Lahi as it finishes its Philippine voyage before embarking on international waters. Originally excavated in Butuan, the balangay is an ancient marine vessel used for transportation, trading, and warfare.

Someone's leaving and something's staying on Fox

American Idol Season 9 will premiere tomorrow. People are really excited about this show especially now that Ellen Degeneres has replaced Paula Abdul.

But another news has broke out. Idol's notorious judge, Simon Cowell, has announced that this will be his last season as judge as he has decided to leave the show after 9 seasons of discovering America's new roster of singers. After AI, the British judge will focus his talent-hunting skills in the American version of X Factor which will premiere in 2011 on Fox.

On the other hand, Fox's newest gem, Glee, will be staying as it has been given the GO signal to plan and shoot the second season. And the now "bigger" Glee will open a casting call to search for the newest talents that will fill three new roles in the show. The second season will premiere on April 19.

Rest in Peace my friend... MR. RJ PANIS.

Who's in love with the mad hatter? I am!

No doubt, a combination of Johnny Depp and Tim Burton in a film is a visual masterpiece. But when you add a Helena Bonham Carter in the equation, it gets even better!

Johnny Depp is wearing a hell lot of makeup and a hideous costume in this movie, but why is it that he still looks hot to me?! The mad hatter is sexy!

March 5, 2010. Alice in Wonderland. In 3D. Need I say more?

Legion Movie TV spots

In Legion, (one of the films in my 'anticipated list') God has lost faith in mankind and ordered his angels to exterminate them. However, Archangel Michael was against the plan so he was booted out of heaven and he embarked on a mission to save an ordinary pregnant waitress for she was believed to be bearing the child who will be the messiah.

Legion will be shown in the Philippines on January 22.

This trailer is for mature audience only. There are visually sensitive scenes that may not be suitable for you.

Start your 2010 with this. Zombies + Comedy = Zombieland

When it comes to gory movies, I really have a weak stomach. I know they're just props and make-up, but I'm just really too scared of them (And the idea of being in a world where they exists. I know the idea is really stupid but I don't care, I'm still scared) that I'm always covering my eyes and just let my ears do the "watching" when it comes to horror movies, especially those Zombie-genre ones.

But who could have known that watching Zombies can be fun too?

Zombieland is one optimistic kind (in a way) of movie wherein it showed the happy side of life (despite being infested by flesh eating zombies) as long as #1 you can outrun them and can endure a long run; #2 alert and have a loaded gun with you; #3 shoot a zombie twice (especially on the head); and #4 wear a seatbelt. I think I was able to cover most of it, nevertheless, the movie was all out fun with a lot of killing, 2 cute female cons and a quest for twinkies.

Another part of the movie that I liked are their lines. There are so many quotable quotes in the movie that on the outside, you'll think that they're just plain stupid and funny lines, but actually they made a lot of sense. So for me, it's a well written and witty script. And Columbus and Tallahasse are really great in delivering them all. =)

My fave character? Tallahasse. He's one ass-kicking zombie killer who has an obsession for Twinkies!

The funniest scene for me? The Bill Murray scene. I was really cracking up when Columbus shot him because Bill try to scare him while wearing a zombie costume.

So start your 2010 with zombies. You have to watch it guys. It's a lotta fun.
