J.J. Abrams to work with Spielberg?!

The New York Magazine reports that J.J. Abrams, the guy famous for his works in Star Trek and Cloverfield is writing and producing a script that pays homage to Steven Spielberg. It is also reported that Spielberg will be working with Abrams for this upcoming, untitled and unconfirmed film (Paramount and Dreamworks deny this project).

Plot details were not announced, but it was said that "like Spielberg’s Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and E.T., the project will deal with everyday people whose personal relationships are tested when they are thrown up against extraordinarily fantastic - and possibly other-worldly - events."

Glee Home Episode, the most tearful episode for me yet...

The "Home" Episode of Glee has got to be the shining moment for Kurt and Mercedes' characters. Kristin Chenoweth reprised her role as April Rhodes in this episode and this has got to be the one of the most emotional episodes so far. It's also refreshing to hear other characters belting out songs since most of the time, it is a Rachel and Finn show. Producers should do this more often so as not to wear out their viewers with too much Rachel, Finn and Will in the picture. I mean, I love Rachel and Finn but I think the other Glee members also has their own struggles to solve too, and I think this episode is a good start. Hope to see the others' story as well!

If you missed yesterday's episode, here are the highlights:

  • Sue reserved the auditorium for a week for her Cheerios to rehearse before the pep rally and her interview with Splits magazine, which left Will with no venue for his New Directions rehearsal.
  • Will found a skating rink and considered it as a venue for their rehearsal. There he met his old gal pal April Rhodes, who also manages the rink. April is still not yet sober, and she's now a mistress of a mall tycoon who also owns the skating rink that she manages.
  • Struggling to fit in the "in-crowd", Mercedes tries her best to be part of the Cheerios team, but Sue said that she has to wear short skirts and lose weight in order for her to stay in the club. She obliged and started dieting until she fainted one day because of low blood sugar in her body. Quin approached her and told her that she should not follow Sue and she's beautiful in her own way and she should be at home with her body.
  • Kurt set his father up with Finn's mother so he can be closer to Finn. His plan worked and both parents started dating. But the plan backfired when he became jealous upon seeing Finn and his dad bond and talk about sports. Finn and Kurt tried to stop it, but they failed.
  • Pep Rally and Splits Interview Day. Mercedes has to perform a Cheerios routine but instead, she gave a speech and raised her concern on the true meaning of beauty and sang Beautiful by Christina Aguilera. Students were moved with her speech and joined in the singing. The reporter who initially planned on criticizing Sue's management of the team, also got moved and congratulated Sue and told her that he'll be writing good things about her and the team because he thought Sue is a good example of a coach who doesn't discriminate her Cheerios members because of their looks and race.
  • April broke up with the tycoon and he died. The wife paid her 2 million dollars hush money. She bought the Glee club an auditorium and decided to go to New York to do a production of "The Wiz."

Next week is "Bad Reputation" episode. Mr. S tries to do an investigation on "Glist" - a list that involves his club members. Molly Shannon and Olivia Newton-John will guest on this episode, can't wait again! I love Molly Shannon! I remember her Superstar movie! "Superstar!"

Babies: The cutest documentary ever!

Arrrgh! I want to pinch those cheeks!

Babies, directed by Thomas Balmès, from an original idea by producer Alain Chabat, is a documentary that simultaneously follows four babies around the world – from birth to first steps. The children are, respectively, in order of on-screen introduction:

Ponijao, who lives with her family near Opuwo, Namibia;

Bayarjargal, who resides with his family in Mongolia, near Bayanchandmani;

Mari, who lives with her family in Tokyo, Japan; and

Hattie, who resides with her family in the United States, in San Francisco.

I so want to watch this documentary because I'll get to see miracle unveil itself in the four parts of the world. And who wouldn't want to see those babies smile, cry and do funny facial expressions?! They're so adorable!

I don't know if this will be shown here in the Philippines, but in the US, it will premiere on Mothers' Day Weekend, May 7, 2010. Aaaaaw, I really hope they'll have a screening here in the Philippines! =)

Winema! The First Interactive Cinema in the Philippines!

It's already conquering the movie theaters of some big film countries like United States and France, and now, it's making a buzz here in the Philippines!

SM Cinemas, the first to bring the IMAX 3D Experience in the country, is set to introduce to the Filipino movie audience a new cinema watching experience - the Winema.

Winema (“We Interact with the Cinema”) at SM Cinema is a groundbreaking innovation which turns the whole movie audience into human joysticks through interactive cinema gaming.

With a motion sensitive camera, movie watchers will maneuver the character on screen left and right by waving their arms in the air according to the direction they want it to follow.

Winema games are able to detect multiple physical movements from the movie crowd through its Tolerance Factor. It will follow the summation of the group’s physical movements. For example, 80% of the people directed to the right, then the game character will as well. With the strict programming of this aspect of the game and the large number of participants, the possibility of the program getting “confused” will be insignificant.

Winema is free and will run for 3 minutes so the movie audience need to accumulate as much points under the given time. The movie audience that gets to beat the high score will receive a prize for each audience member.

For its first two-months run, SM Winema audience will be able to play these games:

1. Boink Out (Arkanoid Game)

2. Power Catcher

But don't worry, these won't be just the games that you'll be playing 'til you're too old to go to the cinema, SM Winema will introduce new games regularly for us to enjoy!

Winema will have its first run at the SM Digital Cinema 1 of SM Megamall.

What are you waiting for?

Bring your family, friends, auntie, uncle, neighbor, officemates, and strangers for a new cinema watching experience!

April Rhodes is back on the next episode of Glee!!!

Is your blood pumping hard now after watching Glee's "Power of Madonna" episode? Because I am!!! After watching the Like a Prayer performance, I am so pumped up!

If you missed today's episode, then here are some of the highlights:
  • Sue worships Madonna and because of this obsession, she demanded that Madonna songs should be played in the schools halls and it also became the theme for her cheerios' performances. Will was also inspired that he also incorporated Madonna songs in the Glee Club's rehearsals.
  • Rachel, Finn and Emma are contemplating on whether they should give up their virginity or not. Santana offered to have sex with Finn, Rachel and Emma also said that they were ready to give theirs to Jessie and Will. In the end, Rachel and Emma wasn't able to do it, so they're still virgins, but Finn did it, yet he felt that there's nothing special with what happened since he didn't do it with someone who's important to him.
  • Jessie St. James, the lead vocalist of the champion Vocal Adrenaline and rival of New Directions in the regionals, has transferred to McKinley High and applied to be a member of New Directions Glee Club. Everyone is against it except Rachel, suspecting that he just did it to spy on their club, but Will didn't listen to them and accepts Jessie to their club.
And speaking of Jessie, did you know that he has a bonus song for the Madonna episode? Click here to listen.

And now for the next episode, April Rhodes (Kristin Chenoweth) is back! Can't wait to see her character again!

Here's the promo for the next episode entitled "Home."

P.S. I really hope Jessie St. James' character stays in Glee for good. Please! Please! Please!

Chuck and Blair in Gossip Girl Season 3 Finale

I admit, I stopped watching Gossip Girl Season 3 because Blair (Leighton Meester) and Chuck's (Ed Westwick) relationship is getting me bored. But when the episode about Chuck's hotel and the re-entry of his uncle Jack Bass appeared, I started watching again.

So if you didn't watch the latest episode of Gossip Girl, then too bad, because Chuck and Blair, Manhattan's royal couple, has broken up and I'm blaming all of these to Chuck! Haha!

But don't be sad, Chuck and Blair fans, because there will always be light at the end of the tunnel.

And here's a little cheering up for you, a two-minute Gossip Girl season 3 finale teaser that is solely dedicated to Chuck and Blair's relationship. Season finale will be on May 17. Enjoy!

Kick Ass is a total Whoop-Ass!!!

Kick Ass...

This movie is for people who look up to heroes and is dying to be like one.

Kick Ass is about Dave (Aaron Johnson), a highschool geek who had two obsessions: comics and boobs. But between the two, he is more obsessed with the first one. And this obsession drove him to be a superhero by buying a green scuba suit, developed a myspace site and roam around the streets, looking for bad guys. Unfortunately for him, his first attempt got him a stab wound in the stomach area, broken bones and affected nerves. He got out of the hospital with metal implants and his healed nerves made him feel no pain.

And thanks to cellphones, people were able to record a video of him beating and getting beaten trying to save a man and was uploaded on youtube. And because of this viral video, he became a modern-day hero overnight. But an encounter with highly-skilled killing superheroes, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) and Hit Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz), got him involved with the city's biggest mafia boss, Frank D'Amico (Mark Strong) and he became a target for destruction.

Kick Ass is a must watch movie, especially for the comic version fans. The movie reflects the aspirations of every comic teen fan who, everyday, wishes to be a son of Krypton parents or be bitten by a radioactive spider. Even though it has a PG-13 rating, I think adults who plans to bring their 13+ year old kids with them must think twice. Yes, the movie is highly entertaining and comedic, but it still involves vulgar visuals and language that might make you uncomfortable watching with your kids, it's like a combination of Kill Bill and Superbad. But if you think they can handle it, go ahead, because it is really a fun movie.

The downside of this movie is that the Big Daddy and Hit Girl's story is better than Kick Ass'. Hit Girl's flashy ninja moves and her funny but weird relationship with Big Daddy really stood up in this movie. I like her character! It's like watching a purple-wigged Master Yoda, cutting people's throats and shooting people in the head! Aaron Johnson's portrayal of super bad is smooth. I think he fit the character very well. If you fell in love with him, too bad, he's already engaged to his 43-year old director girlfriend and their already expecting a baby. =) Nicholas Cage, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Mark Strong are also great!

Kick Ass is now showing in Philippine theaters.

Interactive cinema in the Philippines?

3D cinemas are the "in-thing" in the movie business nowadays, and almost everywhere there's a mall that offers 3D cinema experience in their theaters.

But what's this I'm hearing?

An interactive cinema? In SM?

What's this? Something more than 3D?

From what I've heard, this new SM Cinema project will be a first in Philippine cinema that involves something dynamic and playful, insinuating hand waving motions.

It will be launched late April at the Digital Theater of SM Megamall, just in time for the incoming series of blockbuster movies this summer.

I'm really curious about this. Hmmmmm....
