Kick Ass is a total Whoop-Ass!!!

Kick Ass...

This movie is for people who look up to heroes and is dying to be like one.

Kick Ass is about Dave (Aaron Johnson), a highschool geek who had two obsessions: comics and boobs. But between the two, he is more obsessed with the first one. And this obsession drove him to be a superhero by buying a green scuba suit, developed a myspace site and roam around the streets, looking for bad guys. Unfortunately for him, his first attempt got him a stab wound in the stomach area, broken bones and affected nerves. He got out of the hospital with metal implants and his healed nerves made him feel no pain.

And thanks to cellphones, people were able to record a video of him beating and getting beaten trying to save a man and was uploaded on youtube. And because of this viral video, he became a modern-day hero overnight. But an encounter with highly-skilled killing superheroes, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) and Hit Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz), got him involved with the city's biggest mafia boss, Frank D'Amico (Mark Strong) and he became a target for destruction.

Kick Ass is a must watch movie, especially for the comic version fans. The movie reflects the aspirations of every comic teen fan who, everyday, wishes to be a son of Krypton parents or be bitten by a radioactive spider. Even though it has a PG-13 rating, I think adults who plans to bring their 13+ year old kids with them must think twice. Yes, the movie is highly entertaining and comedic, but it still involves vulgar visuals and language that might make you uncomfortable watching with your kids, it's like a combination of Kill Bill and Superbad. But if you think they can handle it, go ahead, because it is really a fun movie.

The downside of this movie is that the Big Daddy and Hit Girl's story is better than Kick Ass'. Hit Girl's flashy ninja moves and her funny but weird relationship with Big Daddy really stood up in this movie. I like her character! It's like watching a purple-wigged Master Yoda, cutting people's throats and shooting people in the head! Aaron Johnson's portrayal of super bad is smooth. I think he fit the character very well. If you fell in love with him, too bad, he's already engaged to his 43-year old director girlfriend and their already expecting a baby. =) Nicholas Cage, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Mark Strong are also great!

Kick Ass is now showing in Philippine theaters.
